Sagittarius season begins on November 22 and lasts until December 21. During each astrological season, which lasts about a month, we can all feel the influence of that specific sign—regardless of whether it’s in our chart or not.
About the Sign of Sagittarius
Sagittarius is a Mutable sign, a term which comes from the time of year that it takes place. Mutable signs each take place at the end of a season (Pisces-end of winter, Gemini-end of spring, and Virgo-end of summer). These signs are open to change, and part of their energy is linked to preparing for the coming season and getting ready for what’s next.
The unique aspect about Sagittarius is that it comes at the end of autumn and right before the beginning of winter. So it might seem like this sign is about battening down the hatches, drawing inward, and focusing on surviving the winter ahead, but it’s actually the opposite. The sign of Sagittarius is all about expansion, freedom, exploration, travel, and philosophy.
As a Fire sign, Sagittarius is very passionate, creative, and expressive. It’s both the teacher and bachelor of the zodiac—pursuing knowledge, learning new things, and sharing that information with others. This is why its key phrases are “I See” and “I Understand.” Sagittarius is symbolized by the Archer, the one who seeks the pursuit of knowledge and is always reaching for new goals. This sign also loves the outdoors, and it’s beneficial for Sagittarians to get plenty of exercise, especially outside.
This sign is very good at seeing the big picture and being open to new ideas, which can sometimes make it challenging to focus on the small details that also need attention. Sagittarius is also a very independent sign that loves its freedom. While it’s a fan of passion and love, it’s not afraid to cut cords in order to have more autonomy and flexibility.
Even as we head into winter in the Northern Hemisphere, Sagittarius season reminds us to have fun, enjoy life, and continue to explore, even in the darkest and coldest time of the year.
The signs following it represent the intensity of winter: Capricorn is all about diligence and focus on hard work, which represents the hard work it takes to survive the dark and cold days of winter; Aquarius is about the level of self-reflection we experience as we draw inward and look more clearly at ourselves and what we want in life; Pisces is about exploring the depths of our own secrets, intuitive abilities, and possibilities, and explores deep feelings.
Sagittarius is not the last gasp of fun before things turn serious—it’s the reminder to all of us to continue to have these elements present in our life as we prepare for what comes next. This is especially timely as we look toward the next year ahead and all of the things we want to accomplish in our lives.
